Abstract

788,148. Stoppers. METAL BOX CO., Ltd. Aug. 3, 1956, No. 24050/56. Class 125(3). A closure made of resilient moulded plastic material and comprising a skirt 2 and crown 1, the skirt being constructed to co-operate by screw threads or other means with the neck of the container 5 to urge the crown towards the rim defining the mouth of the container. A sealing element 7 is moulded with the closure and is formed by a resiliently flexible annulus, a side face 8 of which lies at an angle to the axis of the closure, for engagement with the rim of the container on application of the closure. The annulus is then turned away from the direction of movement of the closure crown towards the container rim and forms a seal between them. The annulus may be at an angle towards the central axis of the closure or towards the rim and may be of claw-like cross-section or of straight cross-section.
