Abstract

780,286. Container closures. BAYETTO, A. July 25, 1955 [Aug. 5, 1954], No. 21496/55. Class 125(3). A fluid tight packing or seal for screw cap closures has a sleeve 1, which enters the container neck 5 and has a flange 2, the sleeve being closed by a frusto-conical web 3 provided with a projection 4 at its apex extending above the sleeve 1 in its unstressed state but which is engaged by the screw cap 6 to cause the cylindrical sleeve to bulge outwards and form a tight seal with the container neck. In a modification, Fig. 5, the sleeve 21 is closed by a frustoconical web 22 recessed at 24, pressure of the cap on the frusto-conical flange part causing the sleeve to bulge outwards.
