Abstract

1364020 Stoppers &c THERMOS Ltd 1 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 4641/72 Heading B8T [Also in Division F4] A container 11 has an outer housing 13 and an inner double walled glass filler 12 fitted with a plastics liner 22 and is closed by a screw threaded stopper 28 having a frusto-conical seating surface 35 (Fig. 3) which abuts a similar sealing surface 33 on the liner 22. The two sealing surfaces are inclined to each other so that as the stopper is screwed down, by threads 31, 32 on the stopper and liner respectively, the surface 33 yields and deforms to the contour of surface 35 to form a liquid tight seal. In another embodiment (not shown) the stopper comprises a bung and a cylindrical skirt part surrounding the bung and which is internally threaded to engage external screw threads on the liner which in the case envelops the upper part of the filler.
