Abstract

1,204,820. Vacuum insulated vessels. ALADDIN INDUSTRIES Inc. 27 Nov., 1968 [26 Dec., 1967], No. 56264/68. Heading F4U. The protective casing of a vacuum bottle includes a bottom closure which engages the outside of the remainder of the casing by means of screw-threads or bayonet fastenings, the closure and the remainder of the casing having frusto-conical surfaces which co-operate to prevent the sides of the closure moving outwards relative to the casing as a result of overtightening of the closure. As illustrated in Fig. 2. the closure 8 has an outwardly facing frustoconical surface 39 which engages in inwardly facing frusto-conical surface 38 on a lip 40 of the casing. The surface 39 makes a smaller angle with the axis of the bottle than does the surface 38. As illustrated in Fig. 6, the closure has a triangular section protrusion 82 which engages a triangular section groove 83 on the casing. The protrusion has a smaller included angle than the groove. The closure supports the lower end of the vacuum filler through the intermediary of a resilient sleeve or cup, Figs. 1 and 4 (not shown). The casing may be of plastics material, and the filler may have an inner plastics liner which is spin welded at its upper end to the casing, Figs. 4, 7 and 8 (not shown).
