Abstract

987,998. Closure caps. OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS CO. Jan. 17, 1962 [Jan. 19, 1961], No. 1657/62. Heading B8T. A container closure assembly comprises a cap 10 having a top panel 11 and a skirt 12, engaged by rotation on the cylindrical neck 18 of a container, and an annular rubber or like gasket seals against an annular sealing surface on the outer wall of the neck, the sealing surface contacting only a portion of the non- cap-engaging surfaces of the gasket so that upon tightening the cap the material of the gasket flows into the annular space 25 between frusto-conical surfaces 20, 27 of the container neck. Threads 30 on the lower edge of the cup engage threads 31 on the container. The cap has a hollow rib 32 into which the gasket flows on tightening the cap. U.S.A.
