Abstract

1,033,037. Stoppers. AMERICAN CAN CO. Feb. 9, 1965 [May 14, 1964], No. 5491/65. Heading B8T. A container closure of the screw-on captive cap type is provided with relatively deformable threads 18, 28 on the cap 24 and container neck 11 respectively to allow overriding of said threads on further rotation of the cap at its open position as shown, further axial motion being prevented by inter-engaging beads 21 and 31, the threads, at this position, being in engaged contact or located for ready re-engagement. A plug 13 is attached to the neck 11 by radiating arms 14 and seals the discharge aperture 26 in the screwed down cap. Further sealing is provided by engagement between neck surface 23 and the cap roof and between the bead 31 and lower face of the groove 19. The beads 21 and 31 are also relatively deformable to permit initial fitting of the cap. Only the neck or the cap need be resilient.
