Abstract

1404308 Safety closures B T REYMES-COLE and S C AINGE [trading as BRC PATENTS DEPT 2] 3 Aug 1972 [11 May 1971 21 Aug 1971 2 March 1972 17 March 1972] 53788/70 39338/71 9814/72 and 12673/72 Heading B8T A container and cap form a safety closure, either or both being of flexible material to allow distortion whereby interengaging shoulders on container and cap may be disengaged by manual pressure. The closure may be formed by a cap with a groove 6 into which fit projections 5 on the container neck, the cap being resiliently flexible to allow it to be squeezed at points on a diameter normal to that passing through the projections 5, the neck having recesses 7 which permit the cap to deform and so disengage the groove 6 and projections 5. A rubber sealing disc 4 is provided. In modifications, projections (9), Fig. 5 (not shown), on the cap are engaged with ribs (11) on a bottle neck; a plug stopper having a retaining rib (19) on its underside engages shoulders (20) of a flexible container, Fig. 8 (not shown); and the cap structure may be weakened opposite the projections on the container.
