Abstract

1387572 Safety closures SUNBEAM PLASTICS CORP 5 April 1973 16456/73 Heading B8T A safety closure assembly is formed by one or more notches 17 on a container with which lugs 21 extending below the lower edge of a cap skirt 20 engage as a screw thread or bayonet joint on an inner wall 19 of the cap is made fast with the container neck, the cap skirt 20 being resilient and cammed outwardly as the cap is rotated before the lugs 21 snap into the notches 17. The cam may be provided at 16 on the container, or the lugs 21 may be bevelled (at 21a), Fig. 7 (not shown). The screw thread may be partial only, Fig. 14 (not shown), and more than one notch (17e) may be formed on the container, Fig. 21 (not shown). To remove the cap, the skirt is squeezed to an oval shape so disengaging the lugs 21.
