Abstract

975,208. Vices. HILMOR Ltd., and E. J. HAMPSON. Aug. 22, 1963 [Oct. 4, 1962], No. 37640/62. Heading B3B. A vice comprises upper and lower jaw members 12 and 11 respectively, which are hinged by a pin 25 in the upper jaw and connected by a threaded eye bolt 26 located in a slotted hole 22 in the lower jaw and secured by a nut 29. The nut permits adjustment of the distance between the jaws to accommodate workpieces of different size. Complementary sets of serrated jaw plates 36 are located in recesses 35 in the jaws and a further set of gripping grooves are provided at 32 and 34. To close the vice, the threaded rod 17 engaging a pivot pin 16 is swung into position in the open slot 20 in the upper jaw. The rod 17 is then screwed down so that the boss 18 bears on the upper jaw.
