In a cutting head for a dry shaver a cutter block having parallel blades 6 is moved to and fro along a cutting foil 18 by an oscillating lever 2, and a spring 12 surrounds the lever and urges the block towards the foil by abutting a bush 9 slidable and rotatable on the lever and pivoted to the block so that the spring is subjected to compression and not to flexure and cutting cooperation is maintained at the ends of the cutter movement. The yoke 10<SP>1</SP> of the bush has trunnions 10 journalled in flanges 7<SP>1</SP> of a synthetic resin crosshead 7 formed as an apertured plate with abutments 14, 16 forming a snap fastening with resilient pins 13 carried by the sides of the cutter block. The cutter block is formed as a die-casting and includes a framelike base with upturned ends 4 connected by a bridge 5, the blades being supported in the bridge and sides of the frame. A spring locking washer 20 prevents disconnection of the cutter block when the cutting foil is removed. In modifications, the cutter block consists of a cutting grid or perforated sheet, the base plate of the crosshead 7 is long enough to exclude debris from the motor and the upper surface of the base plate has a removable adhesive insert to which debris adheres.
