Abstract

639,106. Dryshavers. REMINGTON RAND, Inc. May 31, 1948, No. 14671. Convention date, June 3, 1947. [Class 131] In a dry shaver, the casing is provided, at the head end, with an opening through which cutteroperating means extend, and a flexible diaphragm, formed with a marginal portion engaged between the head end and the cutter assembly and embracing the cutteroperating means, is provided to block the opening. As shown the sections 10, 11 of the casing abut along the line 12 and the cutter assemblies, comprising fixed cutters 21 and reciprocating cutters 22, are mounted in the opening 37 in the head end by being secured to a mounting plate 28 of which projections 32 are received in notches 41 in opposed lips of the casing. The diaphragm 44 embraces each oscillating arm 15 and is formed with a flange 47 engaged between the mounting plate and ribs formed on inward extensions of the casing. The mounting plate may be flat, convex, polygonal or stepped and the apertures in the diaphragm may have tapering sleeves the ends of which engage the oscillating arms. In a modification the cutter assemblies are secured to the motor casing by the means described in Specification 629,489, a mounting plate being then unnecessary, and individual diaphragms being provided for each oscillating arm.
