Abstract
1299419 Dry shavers SPERRY RAND CORP 8 Oct 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 46968/71 Heading B4B An electric dry shaver comprises a cutting head 17 mounted on a support means 64 so as to be mountable by an actuator 96 from first position in which the cutting head is in engagement with a drive means 39 to a second position in which the cutting head is disengaged from the drive means. The support means comprises a frame 64 having side flanges 67 to retain the cutters 52 and formed as combs 61. Leg portions 69, 70 are formed with slots 88, 90 for engagement with lugs 83 formed on an actuating plate 76. The plate is provided with slots 78 for co-operating with guide bosses 79 and with an extension arm 92 for an actuating button 96. The leg portions 69, 70 are guided in shallow recesses 72 formed in the walls 13, 14 of the shaver so that by raising the button the support is moved to the extended position shown in Fig. 5. In this position the cutters are disengaged from drive arms 39, Fig. 3 coupled to a motor 27 and the cutters may be cleared by means of a brush. In a modification, Fig. 7, the frame 110 is formed with legs 114, one of which is provided with an extension arm 31 formed with a slot 132 for engagement with a pin 134 on an actuating button 135. A detent device 137, 138 is provided for retaining the cutters in the extended position.
