962,640. Refrigerated vehicles. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE. A.G. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 41430/60. Heading F4H. The compressor 1 of a vehicle refrigeration system is driven either from the vehicle engine 2 through an electromagnetic clutch 8 or by an electric motor 6 supplied from a mains connection R.S.T. through a switch 4 closed upon energization of a relay 3. The coils of clutch 8 and relay 3 can be selectively energized from the vehicle battery 11 by manual actuation of a two-way switch 5 on the vehicle instrument panel so that the compressor can be enginedriven or electrically-driven when the vehicle is moving or stationary respectively. The current supply from the battery includes switches 7, 7a opened by a predetermined minimum storage temperature or a predetermined maximum condenser temperature or pressure to stop the compressor. Lamps 9, 10 in parallel with the coils of relay 3 and clutch 8 indicate which source of power, if any, is driving the compressor. A tele-thermometer on the instrument panel may indicate the storage temperature.
