955,226. Pipetting devices. A. KLINGBEIL. Aug. 25, 1960, No. 36689/62. Divided out of 922,062. Heading B1X. In a pipetting device consisting of a ball 32, a tube connector 21, by which a pipetting tube is connected to said ball, both the ball 32 and connector 21 being provided with a built-in ball valve, said connector is attached to the ball by means of a screw connection. The connector is also provided with a side tube having a built-in ball valve. The apparatus is made of rubber or synthetic materials which after curing have the same resilient characteristics as vulcanized rubber. As shown in the Figures to which the above numerals relate, the top part 20 of said connector 21 is provided with a radial flange 22 over which a metallic nut 23 engages. An annular ridge 25 on the valve tube below the cap nut prevents the latter from slipping. Threaded member 29, formed with two radial flanges 30 and 31, is vulcanized into projecting portion 27 of rubber cap 28. Flange 31 contains holes into which rubber flows during vulcanization ; flange 30 may also be thus perforated. Cap 28 is vulcanized to or is a part of rubber ball 32. Connecting pipe 33, integral with the rubber ball, engages in bore 34 of member 29 and is vulcanized on to the inner surface thereof. The device is thus constructed such that after the two parts of the device have been joined no liquid can reach the screw connection members which are preferably made of metal.
