Abstract

1,045,028. Pipe joints; nuts. HARSHAW CHEMICALS Ltd. Sept. 15, 1965 [June 15, 1964], No. 24683/64. Headings F2G and F2H. In a joint between glass tubular members 10, 20, the member 20 is formed with an external screw-thread on to which is screwed a cap 15 which bears against a shoulder 14 on the member 10. The mating surfaces of the members may be ground conical surfaces as shown, spherical surfaces, or cylindrical surfaces; in the latter case an O-ring is disposed between the annular end face of the member 10 and the base of the socket on the member 20. The screw cap may be of metal, phenolic resin or natural or synthetic rubber and split longitudinally, the two parts being held together by a clip of metal or plastic material.
