Abstract

940,412. Hose end fittings. FRENCH & COLLETT Ltd. April 11, 1962 [April 11, 1961], No. 13083/61. Heading F2G. A hose end fitting comprises a body portion 1 possessing an integral nozzle 2 for insertion into a hose end 3 and a clamping ring 5 consisting of a cylindrical portion 8 and a plurality of spring fingers 6 the ends of which are formed into circlets 7. The cylindrical portion 8 is held in the body portion 1 by a number of lugs 8a, a nut on sleeve 4 having a tapered inner surface 4a being screwed on to body portion 1 to clamp the circlets 7 against the hose end 3. The cylindrical portion may be split longitudinally so that it may be contracted and sprung into the mouth of body portion 1. The clamping ring 5 may be of metal or synthetic resin, the circlets 7 being not completely closed or in the form of flat discs respectively. Two body portions 1 may be formed back-to-back so that a pipe joint may be fabricated.
