972,105. Pipe couplings. R. E. BRUMBACH. April 10, 1963 [Nov. 6, 1962], No. 14341/63. Heading F2G. A fitting for attachment to the end of a tube comprises a hollow elongated element 15 having a shoulder 18 separating its ends 16 and 17, the former of which is adapted, as at 19, to be retained frictionally in the tube, a swivelling body 20 sealingly engaging the shoulder 18 and rotatable on the end 17, and a resilient keeper 30 overlying the tube and movable along it from a position where it does not engage the swivelling body 20 to a position where it does engage it and thereby restrains its rotation. The rotatable joint is sealed by an 0-ring 28 in a recess 21. The body 20 is retained on the element 15 by swaging the end 17 as at 26. The tube is of polypropylene and is heated to about 250‹ F. in a glycol bath to render it plastic for insertion of the end 16. The surface of the swivel body 20 is polygonal at its maximum diameter to adapt it for manual rotation.
