Abstract

955,001. Hose end fittings. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 16, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 13737/61. Heading F2G. A hose end fitting comprises a sleeve 8 having plain cylindrical and threaded portions, the sleeve threadedly co-operating with the bore of a helically-corrugated plastics or rubber tube 7, the thread of the sleeve having a greater pitch than that of the corrugations such that the end corrugations of the tube, in the region of the cylindrical portion of the sleeve are flattened. An annular ring 3 surrounds and bears on the end portion of the tube to form a fluid-tight seal. In the construction shown the tube 7 is provided with braiding 1 which encloses the annular ring 3, the ring possessing a number of turns 4 of a soft wire, e.g. aluminium, housed in a groove. A ferrule 2 surrounding the assembly is crimped to compress the annular ring against the tube.
