Abstract

1,083,741. Hose couplings; hoses. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 20, 1965 [Jan. 30, 1964], No. 4064/64. Headings F2G and F2P. A hose end unit embodies a length of flexible hose comprising a tube 14 of electrically insulating material such as polytetrafluoroethylene and an external wire braid reinforcement 15, and an end fitting 10 including a metal sleeve 11 which is disposed within the end of the tube. The reinforcement does not extend beyond the end of the tube and is gripped with the tube between the sleeve and an outer metal ferrule or clip 16, and the reinforcement and ferrule or clip are spaced from the end fitting. The end portion of the tube is surrounded by a protective sleeve 25 of insulating material such as glass fibres, and an 0-ring is positioned between the sleeve and tube to provide a fluid-tight seal. Knurling on the sleeve prevents axial separation of the sleeve and tube arid rotation of the tube on the sleeve.
