954,682. Tube connections. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 6, 1962 [April 12, 1961], No. 13196/61. Heading F2G. A helically-corrugated metal tube 2 has inside and at one end thereof an externally screw-threaded sleeve 1 which makes screwthreaded engagement with the end turns of the tube and is welded to the tube at or adjacent the free end thereof whereby the sleeve constitutes a support for the tube behind the region of the weld, the sleeve and the tube providing means for attachment of an end fitting 9 for the tube. As shown, the fitting has an annular channel to provide a ring 6 and is welded at 5 to the sleeve. The braided wire reinforcement 3 of the tube is clamped on to a circumferential rib 8 of the fitting by a swaged ferrule 10 having a restriction 7 which supports the reinforcement against the tube means, e.g. a discontinuity in the screw-thread, may be provided to limit entry of the sleeve into the tube.
