A helically-corrugated plastic, e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene, tube 5, has, near one end, a screw-threaded sleeve 8 which makes screwthreaded engagement with the turns of the tube, the end portion of the tube projecting beyond the sleeve, in combination with an end fitting 10 engageable with the end of the tube, there being means to move the fitting towards the sleeve to compress the projecting portion of the tube between the sleeve and end fitting. As shown, the sleeve and fitting are screwed together and have respectively a portion 12 to support the tube externally in the region of compression thereof, and a projection 2 to prevent the turns of the tube moving inwardly on compression.- A deformable washer of silicone rubber may be placed between the fitting and compressed turns of the tube or between the annulus on the fitting and the extension 7 of the sleeve. Means may be provided, e.g. a discontinuity in the screw-thread, to prevent the tube entering the sleeve more than a predetermined distance.
