Abstract

A pipetting device comprising a rubber ball with a rubber connector into which a pipetting tube is fitted, is characterized in that the thickness of the wall of the rubber ball progressively increases from the region nearest the pipetting tube to a region surrounding an air inlet and <PICT:0922062/III/1> outlet diametrically opposite. Such increase in wall thickness ensures that the ball returns to its original shape after being compressed. Fig. 1 shows a ball 3 having a wall thickest at the upper part near a valve tube 1. A pipetting tube 4 is fitted into a valve tube 2. The valves comprise rigid balls 8, 12 and 13 located in cylindrically widened portions, e.g. 7, in channels, e.g. 6; the valves are opened by pressing on flat projections, e.g. 9, so that air can pass through the channels which are normally blocked by the balls 8, 12 and 13.
