Abstract

923,213. Valves. OTIS ENGINEERING CORPORATION. Sept. 15, 1961, No. 33105/61. Class 135. A check valve comprises a tubular housing 11, Fig. 1, wherein is removably disposed a seating element 15, Fig. 2, having a conical recess 20 accommodating a cup-shaped closure member 17 having a flexible portion 23 engaging the recess 20 and a cylindrical surface 25 forming a seal with the interior of the housing 11, the element 15 having a cylindrical outer surface provided with longitudinal flow passages 22. The member 17 is formed from flexible material such as natural or artificial rubber or a plastics material and is held against the seating element by a central extension 36 on a nose member 32 threaded into the housing 11. In Fig. 4, a seating element 70 with flow passages 73 is secured by a set-screw 85 in an insert sleeve 62 and has a closure element 75 secured to it by a bolt 82.
