Abstract

937,232. Valves. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. July 20, 1960 [July 31, 1959], No. 26456/59. Class 135. A non-return valve comprises a body formed with an inlet and an outlet and housing a valve closure member having at least the portion co-operating with the valve seat formed of deformable material and a porous member located in the inlet such as to allow forward flow but to prevent extrusion of the deformable material into the inlet on reverse pressure. In the embodiment shown, the deformable material 4 of the valve member co-operates with the seat 10 and a plug 7 of porous sintered material is located in the inlet 2. The plug also serves as a filter and preferably has pore sizes in the range of 5 to 50 microns. In a modification, the valve member is in the form of a rubber tube or nipple secured at one end to the inlet which contains the sintered material.
