Abstract

954,732. Suspended ceilings; stud and socket fasteners. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. July 21, 1960 [Aug. 1, 1959], No. 25763/62. Divided out of 946,933. Headings E1V and E2B. Bearers 10, Figs. 5 and 6, for the support of ceiling or wall panels 4 are carried from joists 1 by fastening means 15 formed of strip material and so formed as to be displaceable between two positions relative to the joists so that the bearers 10 may be held in a position spaced as in Fig. 5 from the joists I to permit assembly of the panels 4 on to the bearers and so that the bearers 10 may be moved into a position close to the joists 1 as in Fig. 6 to secure the panels in their final position. In the form shown in Figs. 5 and 6 the fastening means 15 comprises a resilent head portion each side of which comprises two bent portions 16, 17 which serve to locate the fastening means in the required two positions within an aperture in the joist 1. Resilient leg portions of the fastening means engage within the bearer 10. In another embodiment, the fastening means 6 Fig. 4 comprises a pair of resilient legs each having a lip 12 and a curved portion 11 which locate the fastening means in the required two positions within the aperture in the joist 1. The head 7 engages within the bearer.
