Metal sheets 1 for floors or walls comprises ribs 2, 3 on opposite edges and an intermediate rib 4, all of angular cross-section and opening to- wards the same side of the sheet. The rib 2 has an outer edge 1a and the rib 3 an inner edge 6 formed by a bend in the sheet both bent to overlie the rib openings and to lock the sheet on joists 5, or both the edge 1a and the bend 6a may be associated with one of the edge grooves 3, Fig. 3 only. A floor comprises ceiling slabs 8, Fig. 3 attached to rails 9 arranged transversely of the joists 5 which support the sheets 1 which are also supported by members 10 on the rails 9.
