Abstract
952,067. Packaging; bags, cartons. PNEUMATIC SCALE CORPORATION Ltd. May 27, 1960, No. 18851/60. Headings B8C, B8K and B8P. A blank for a bag, which may form the liner of a carton, is coated on one face with thermoplastic adhesive and has thicker auxiliary strips of thermoplastic adhesive 36, 38, 40, 42 near the four corners, at the parts of the fin seam 16 which will lie in the end seams 30, Fig. 5, half of one auxiliary strip confronting half of the opposite strip in the seam 16 when the blank is wrapped around a mandrel 12, Fig. 2. When the seam 16 is heat sealed the confronting halves of the thicker strips melt to fill the groove 44, Fig. 4, the remaining halves remaining unmelted. One end is then folded in to form the fin seam 30 and when this seam is heat sealed the remaining halves of the strips melt to completely fill the space 45, Fig. 6, in the end seam. The bag is then removed from the mandrel, filled, sealed at the other end and placed in a carton.
