Abstract

949,435. Dry shavers. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. June 3, 1960 [Oct. 22, 1959], No. 30829/62. Divided out of 947,925. Heading B4B. In an electric dry shaver, comprising a casing 11 defining a chamber for housing a motor in driving connection with a cutting head 12 mounted on one side of the casing, an elongated roller 130, having a spring-biased trunnion 133a projecting from each end, is mounted adjacent each side of the cutting head with the trunnions received in elongated recesses 136 at each end of the casing, a second elongated recess 138 being provided adjacent each end of each roller for receiving a spring- biased member 137 having a trunnion-engaging projection 137a disposed in recess 136 to yieldingly support and bias the associated trunnion outwardly of the casing. Moulded cup-shaped casing parts 28, 29 are secured together by screws 33 passing through one part and engaging tapped openings in moulded inserts in the other part to form the rectangular casing the top edges of which are defined by the rollers which automatically adjust to the skin of the user to aid movement of the cutting surface. Each roller comprises a rod having, at each end, a recess 131 containing a compression spring 132 and a trunnion supporting member 133, the end of the rollers being deformed after insertion of the spring and member 133 to define an annular flange 130a holding the parts assembled. Trunnions 133a are pushed inwards for insertion in recesses 136. Coil springs 140 in recesses 138 bias supports 137 upwards so that projections 137a extend into recesses 136 to support the trunnions 133a and urge them towards the top of the recesses 136.
