Abstract

1378804 Lamp holders ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 18 May 1972 [19 May 1971] 23405/72 Heading H2E A lamp socket, e.g. for motor vehicle lights, comprises a plastics housing 10 having a flange 16 carrying walls 20, 21 and 22, and 25 and 26 which together support and hold a contact 11 having an earthing bar 38 and lugs 34 to receive the locating pins in the base of a lamp. As shown, resilient walls 20, 21 and 22 have knife edges 23 and flanges 24, and walls 25, 26 form ledges 27 at their lower ends. Current is supplied to the central electrode of the lamp by means of plate 12. Contact 11 is forced over knife-edges 23, is supported on the top of walls 25, 26 and held there by flanges 24. Recesses 35 and ledges 27 together form grooves to receive the lamp locating pins. Plate 12 is inserted through a slot in the bottom of cap 15, spring 13 placed around it and held in tension by a plastics cap 14 which is forced into slots 49 in plate 12 and projections 41 which bear on the outside of cap 15. The housing is inserted in an aperture in, e.g. a reflector and held there by undercut portions 32 of walls 29 which bear resiliently against the sides of the aperture. A hood (44, Fig. 2, not shown), held in place by co-operation of a lip (55) with flange 17 seals the rear of the housing. Flange 17 may also be used to prise the housing out of the reflector aperture.
