Abstract

1512007 Lamp holders MERCHANT ADVENTURERS Ltd 25 April 1975 [10 June 1974] 25706/74 Heading H2E A lamp holder, for lamps having bayonet fixing, comprises spring blade contacts 10 formed and mounted to accommodate axial tolerances in position of lamp contacts while maintaining adequate pressure. The deflection characteristics of the contacts are modified by causing them to stop against a lug or web, e.g. 13 after part of their travel. Contacts may be of beryllium coppr, stainless steel, spring steel, brass or phosphor bronze. As well as the split cylindrical form of spring shown, a transverse arched spring (Fig. 5, not shown) and a half turn helical spring (Fig. 6, not shown are described. Electrical connection to the contacts may be by clamping lead-in wires 8 with rivets 11 which also clamp the contacts in place. A projection on the base of the holder may engage a recess to prevent it rotating when mounted.
