Abstract

1381663 Terminal blocks SIEMENS AG 3 March 1972 [4 March 1971] 10177/72 Heading H2E An electrical component comprises locating and securing means such that it may be engaged with other components and secured in a support by movements parallel to the sides of the component. A thermoplastics terminal block 2, Figs. 1 and 2, is releasably secured to a rail 6, by a base 4 provided with hooks 4a, 4b, rotation in the direction of the arrow 9 about a pivot axis passing through the edge of part 7 of the rail 6 resulting in the housing 2 being released from the carrier. The locating means, in the shape of an arc of a circle centred on the pivot axis, comprise a stepped portion 16 and pin 28 on one side 12 and an inwardly stepped portion 17 and open-ended groove 23 on the side 10, all of which are dovetailed. Detent means 19 and 24 and 25, in the form of outwardly curved diaphragms, are provided in the portion 17 and groove 23 respectively. In an alternative arrangement the step 17 is replaced by an open-ended groove similar to 23. By providing vertical grooves and projections the housing may be secured and released by rectilinear motion perpendicular to a carrier, several embodiments of the form of the grooves and projections being given together with alternative carrier and securing arrangements.
