Abstract

1,036,915. Dry shavers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 10, 1963 [May 14, 1962], No. 18603/63. Heading B4B. A shear plate assembly for a dry shaver having a shaving head comprising at least one reciprocatory cutting member which can be depressed against spring action and has a curved cutting face, and a shear plate which is fixed in relation to the cutting member and consists of a thin, flexible, perforated plate which curves around the cutting face of the cutting member is characterized in that the shear plate is hingedly connected to a rigid frame which is provided with means for detachably securing it to the shaver housing and supports the shear plate in the shape of an arch. The shaving head shown comprises two movable cutting members 36, 36a spring-urged into contact with two shear plates 2, 2a provided with hinge pins 5, 5a and 6 which are supported in the outer and centre limbs of a frame 1 having projecting therefrom lugs 17 formed with projections 18, each adapted to snap behind the transverse part 24 of the portion 23 of a wire spring 19, clamped between the shaver housing and a plate 20 secured thereto, so as to clamp the frame 1 on the upper edges of the plates 20. The outer limbs of the frame 1 are formed with reinforcing flanges 7, 7a, 8 and 8a and the pin 6 is detachably secured to the centre limb of the frame by means of a spring clip 12. The free ends of the limbs 31 of the springs 19 are held in bent-over lugs 34 projecting from the ends of the plates 20. The casing of the shaving head is formed with depressions engageable over projections 33 of the limbs 31. The springs 19 are released from the lugs 17 to allow removal of the shear plate assembly, by means of two push-buttons 26 which each co-operate with one of the limbs 25 of the portion 23 of the spring.
