Abstract
In a hair-clipping device comprising a fixed toothed cutting member and a movable toothed cutting member which is arranged to be driven in an oscillatory manner and which is held against the fixed cutting member by a spring, the pressure of which is applied to the movable cutting member at a point on the outer side thereof, the spring is supported on the fixed cutting member, or at the side of the cutting members remote from the movable cutting member, at a point which is situated on the opposite side of the driving point of the movable cutting member from the teeth of the cutting members and, between this point of support and the point of application of the spring, the spring passes through the plane separating the cutting members. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, oscillatable blade 2 is held against fixed blade 1 by two springs 7 each of which has one end 17 secured to the blade 1, the spring extending through a recess 15 in the edge of the blade 1 around a projection 18 which protrudes into the recess and back through the recess and through a recess 13 in the blade 2, the end 16 of the spring engaging the outer surface of the blade 2. A hole 3 in the blade 2 is engaged by a reciprocable driving member of a dryshaver. In a modification, the limbs 22, 23 of a U-shaped spring 20 pass through recesses 21 in the side edges of a fixed blade 28 and the transverse portion 25 of the spring bears on the outer surface of oscillatable blade 24. The ends 27 of the limbs 22, 23 are accommodated in a groove 26 in the wall 19 of a housing remote from the housing of a dry-shaver. In a further modification, a bent wire has a middle portion 39 rotatably supported in lugs 40 on housing wall 33, an end portion 43 which carries a roller 44 pressing oscillatable blade 32 against fixed blade 31 and an end portion 41 engaging resiliently beneath a catch 42 on wall 33.
