Abstract
783,834. Dry shavers. ANGST, P. and RABALD, W. Jan. 2, 1956 [March 18, 1955], No. 91/56. Class 131 A cutting head which cuts and dry shaves in one operation comprises a resilient reciprocating cutting member having toothed, longitudinal edges overlying and cooperating with parallel toothed cutters fixed to the casing and having a central slotted portion co-operating with an overlying fixed perforated guard plate. As shown, a socket 3, having skin-tensioning rollers 29 and receiving a cutting head 2, is secured by detents 28 and recesses 27 on arms 25 projecting from a casing 1 which houses a spring or electric motor. The cutting head is retained by spring-urged balls 22 engaging recesses in the arms 25 and includes cutters 6 riveted to a spacer block 7 and having teeth 6<SP>11</SP> overlain by teeth 16<SP>1</SP> of a resilient sheet steel cutting member 16, 17, 18 reciprocated by an eccentric pin 26 on a driving shaft 5 engaging a slot 20 in a member 19 of which the ends 19<SP>1</SP> engage apertures in channels 18 of the reciprocating cutting member. An apertured guard plate 14 overlies and is in cutting co-operation with the slotted central portion 17 of the reciprocating cutting member, apertures at the sides of plate 14 being engaged by teeth 13 projecting from keys 12 inserted in pins 10 extending between yoke members 9 sprung between the curved parts 6<SP>1</SP> of the cutters 6. Arms 21 made of nylon or other plastic are mounted on pins 10 inside the yokes 9 and guide the reciprocating cutting member against the curved parts 6<SP>1</SP>.
