Abstract

1,018,428. Dry shavers. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. Oct. 10, 1963 [Dec. 12, 1962], No. 40060/63. Heading B4B. [Also in Division H2] A dry shaver comprises an electric motor 25 which includes a field structure 26 and an armature 27, the structure 26 being secured to a support 19 so as to depend therefrom and having U-shaped laminations 28, Fig. 7, providing spaced pole faces 31, 32 which are disposed in an opening 23 in the support, the support having projections 19d, 19e to support an armature shaft 33 for pivotal movement of the armature which includes laminations 34 disposed in the opening 23 and is provided with spaced poles 38, 39 co-operating with the pole faces 31, 32, laminations 34a to 34d of the armature having extensions provided with notches 60 to receive cutters 12 co-operating with a comb 13. Hair clippings are prevented from passing through the opening 23 by means of resilient sealing members 64 having T-shaped ends received in correspondinglyshaped slots 65 on each side of the armature laminations. One end of the shaft 33 is bifurcated to receive a rocker bar 48 provided with recesses 45 to receive the ends of springs 46 the other ends of which are received in recesses 47 in the inner faces of projections 19f, 19g on the support 19, the springs, which have a natural frequency approaching that of the alternating current supplied to the field winding 30, serving to bias the armature poles 38, 39 to the rest position, Fig. 3. The springs may be replaced by rubber means; alternatively, the shaft 33 itself may comprise the energy storage device. The projections 19d, 19e are provided with recesses 42, 43 in which are disposed wicks 44 saturated with lubricant.
