Abstract
936,562. Folding cartons. UNIPACK CARTONS Ltd. Feb. 20, 1962 [Dec. 6, 1961], No. 6620/62. Class 18. A carton with a retractable handle 24 is divided internally by mutually transverse internal partitions 20, and 14, 16, the partition 20 being formed with the handle 24 and slidable vertically, and the partitions 14, 16, which are integral with and bent up from the carton walls 1, 2 operating to limit movement of the partition 20, the partitions co-operating to form a pair of adjacent rows of article receiving compartments. A blank having side panels 1 ...4 and top and bottom flaps 8, 12, 11, 13, Fig. 1, is cut and scored to provide the arcuate partition forming parts 14, 16 connected to the side panels by score lines 15, 17 respectively. The parts 14, 16 are coated with adhesive at 19, 18. To construct the flattened carton the panels 14 are passed through slots 28 in the separate handle panel 20, and the blank is folded along the lines 29, 30 so that the adhesive areas 18 and 14 are brought into contact. The tab 5 is then adhered to the side panel 12. When the carton so formed is erected the parts 14, 16 hinge about the score lines 15, 17 to form the partitions, the narrow centre parts of which engage the slots 28 of the handle so that the handle 24 can be retracted within the carton. The bottom flaps are then turned up and glued, taped or stapled. Specification 739,893 is referred to.
