Abstract

928,585. Valve gear. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Oct. 13, 1961, No. 36908/61. Class 7(6). A hydraulic tappet 7 directly actuated by a cam 6 is supplied with fluid through passages 44, 36, in the rocker 9 and push rod 8. The fluid is supplied through the rocker shaft 10 and hemispherical ends on the push rod 8 seat in corresponding recesses in the tappet and rocker arm. In a modification the passage 44 connects with the bottom of the rocker shaft 10 and an air bleed hole is provided in the top of the shaft. The oil may be supplied to the rocker shaft under pressure or from a reservoir above the level of the shaft.
