Abstract

1332719 I.C. engine valve gear FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 5 Oct 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 46224/71 Heading F1B To reduce the closing speed of a poppet valve 13 an hydraulic damper 32 opposes the valve spring 19. Oil supplied through a check valve 42 is forced through a passage 46 and/or between the piston 38 and the bore 36 when the rocker portion 48 engages the piston end 47. The damper piston (62) Fig.2 (not shown), may be mounted in a bore (61) in the cylinder head 11 to engage the end (59) of the rocker remote from the valve stem.
