Abstract

928,581. Distribution boxes. E.M.S. ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS Ltd. Nov. 10, 1959 [Nov. 12, 1958], No. 36311/58. Class 38 (1). A tapping connector e.g. for a bus-bar duct system, comprises a bracket 17 which is inserted in and secured to the duct after removal of a portion of the front wall 16 thereof, the bracket having an opening adapted to be closed by a door 18 and giving access to an insulating block 23 which is grooved for the reception of the busbars 10 ... 13. The latter are U-shaped and enclosed in insulation 14 which is removed over a portion of the bus-bars lying on the block 23, said bared portions of the bus-bars being covered by an insulating plate 34 provided with slits 36 in alignment with the bared portions of the " live " bus-bars and a terminal clamp 50 connected to the neutral bar 13. Tapping cables 10a, 11a, 12a and 13a are connected respectively to three terminal blocks 29 and the clamp 50, said blocks being located in recesses in the block 23 adjacent the bus-bars 10, 11, 12, and having contact plates 30 screwed thereto so as to form sockets with the blocks. Connection between the bus-bars 10 ... 12 and the terminal blocks 29 is effected by a fuse carrier 39 carried by the cover 18 and having pairs of blade contacts 46, 47 bridged by fuses 43, the blades 46 passing through the slits 36 into contact with the bus-bars as the cover is closed, and the blades 47 engaging the terminal blocks.
