925,686. Fuel feeding; sprinkler stokers. HOTECHNIKAI KUTATO INTEZET. June 27, 1960, No. 22438/60. Class 51 (1). Dust and fines entrained by hot air flowing up a sorting column 3 in counter-current to coal passing to a travelling grate 6 is separated in cyclones 9 and fed to an inclined plane 12 having sprinkler nozzles 14 at its lower end. The gases from the cyclones 9 are returned via a fan 17 to a heat-exchanger. From the lower section 18 of the heat-exchanger air is fed below the travelling grate 6 and through a booster fan 21 to the sprinkler nozzles 14 and to secondary air inlets 15, 16 above the grate. A damper controlled by-pass duct 22 and a damper 24 controlling an inlet to a hopper 4 at the base of the sorting column 3 regulate the hot air flow through the column 3, which is taken from the second section 19 of the heatexchanger. A damper 25 controls the supply of air to the system.
