Abstract

885,510. Injectors. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. March 13, 1959 [March, 14, 1958], No. 8356/58. Class 71. A dust feeding device comprises a chamber 1 having an inlet 2 for fluidized dust and an air nozzle 30 whereby the air issuing from the nozzle entrains the dust and the mixture is delivered through outlet nozzle 15. The dust is fed to a hopper 3 having an inclined porous bottom 83 and a windbox 80 which is fed with air from the nozzle supply through a branch pipe 84 and an orifice plate 86. The air passing through the porous bottom 83, such as cotton webbing or a ceramic tile, serves to aerate the dust which passes through the opening 4 to the inlet 2. The dust may be further aerated in the chamber 1 by nozzles 23 supplied with air through a branch pipe 86. The dust inlet 2 may be controlled by a slide valve 50.
