A pneumatic de-slagging device disposed near the discharge orifice 9 of a converter comprises a blowing rake 1 formed with cranked cross-pieces 3 having downwardly inclined nozzles 2, said cross-pieces being inclined substantially at right angles to the walls 5 of the orifice. The rake is adjustable vertically or longitudinally. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), an additional short cross-piece is arranged at right angles to the supply pipe 4 nearer the discharge orifice. The nozzles may be supplied with air or gas or with a combustible gas and air.
