Abstract
841,350. Metallurgical converters. PINTSCH BAMAG A.G. Nov. 20, 1958 [Nov. 29, 1957], No. 37389/58. Class 72 A feeding device for a rotary metallurgical converter comprises a fluid-cooled tube mounted on a waste-gas hood, one end of the tube extending into the converter and the other end having a frusto-conical transition portion extending into a pressure chamber, and a funnel-shaped hopper, 'the end of which extends into the pressure chamber and forms, with the transition portion, an annular nozzle directed in the direction of the feed tube. As shown, a feed tube 6 having a water-jacket is fitted to a frusto-conical portion 7 connected to a removable portion 14 which forms, with a removable portion 13 of a funnel-shaped hopper 9, an annular nozzle 15 so shaped that a gaseous medium, supplied under pressure to a pressure chamber 8, is directed towards the tube 6. Granular material supplied to the hopper falls by gravity towards the tube 6 and is carried by the gaseous medium to the end of the tube- and ejected into the converter. The device may be pivoted so that its end may be adjusted near an oxygen lance or near the side of the converter. A valve 18 may be supplied on the pressure chamber for connection to a gas supply to clean the pressure chamber.
