928,829. Pneumatic elevators. INSTITUT NATIONAL DE L'INDUSTRIE CHARBONNIERE. March 24, 1961 [Feb. 9, 1961], No. 10923/61. Class 78 (1). In a pneumatic elevator for granular solids a hopper 1 and fluidising chamber 2 have an interconnecting feed passage 3 at the base and are separately provided with porous beds 4 for controlling the feed to the elevator tube 9. An additional supply of air may be provided at 12 to by-pass the plenum chamber 5. The tube 9 may comprise bundles of small tubes or a coaxial arrangement of tubes to reduce the crosssectional path and thereby increase the solid/ gas ratio. The arrangement may be used for heat exchange between the gas and solids.
