Abstract

Pneumatic drier is of the type in which powder, granules, crystals etc., are carried up a vertical drying duct in a stream of hot air. The bottom of the duct is let into a feed chamber at one end, and, at the far end of the chamber, an inlet is provided through which product can be fed to fall on to a fluidised bed supplied with hot air from a compartment below the bed. The action of the fluidised bed prevents sticking together of the product; the fluidising air provides a pre-heating stage before the product enters the duct.
