Abstract

1381323 Fluidized bed driers NIRO ATOMIZER AS 4 April 1972 [16 April 1971] 15544/72 Heading F4G Wet powder (too wet for it to be fluidized initially), is introduced by a screw feeder 3 and drops on to an hydraulically-rotated disc 4 which distributes it into an upper fluidizing bed formed on a plate 8 provided with steam-heated elements 9, and partially-dried powder overflows through a pipe 12 into a lower fluidizing bed formed on a plate 14 provided with a spiral guide 15 leading to an overflow outlet pipe 16, heated gas being supplied at 18 and exhausted at 19. On starting the device, wet powder is supplied to the plate 8, dried and is fluidized before further powder is fed in; alternatively, the upper fluidized bed is established by supplying dry powder to the plate 8. A steam-heated element 20 is incorporated into the spiral guide 15. The plate 8 is cleaned (as described in Specification 1,381,322), by supplying gas to benozzled pipes 23 rotated beneath the plate 8.
