960,477. Drying granular materials. HEAD WRIGHTSON & CO. Ltd. Jan. 29, 1963 [Nov. 2, 1961], No. 39322/61. Heading F4G. In apparatus for drying granular material, the material is fed through a mixer 3 to a fluidized bed drier 4 whence a controlled quantity of relatively coarse dried particles are withdrawn through a line 5 and recirculated to the feed line 1 for mixing with the wet particles in the mixer 3. The fluidizing gas is withdrawn from the bed 4 through a line 10 and passes to a centrifugal separator 11 from which the fines are discharged into the dried product line 7.
