Abstract

1321726 Evaporators; spray drying MORINAGA NYUGYO KK 19 April 1971 [13 June 1970] 24379/71 Heading B1B [Also in Divisions B8 and F4] Non-agglomerating powder is obtained from a solution of solid material, e.g. milk, by spraying it through nozzle 53 into the upper part of tower 52 and introducing hot air into the top of the tower through line 54; the dried powder collecting in the lower, conical part of the tower being contacted with cool air, introduced tangentially through slits 13, whereby the powder is cooled and given a downward whirling movement in the form of a thin fluidized bed to the outlet 11. A mixture of hot and cold air is withdrawn from the central section of the tower, and flows to a cyclone where entrained powder is separated, the separated powder being returned to the lower part of the tower.
