Abstract

1325224 Evaporation of solutions to obtain dry solids HEAD WRIGHTSON & CO Ltd 19 April 1972 [26 April 1971] 11292/71 Heading B1B Solid particles are obtained from solutions or slurries by spraying the solution or slurry by means of compressed air from nozzle 22 into a bed of particles 18 which is fluidised by heated air introduced through pipe 20 and distribution tubes 21, the fine particles, separated from the effluent gas in cyclone 25, being injected into the bed through pipe 27 at a position so that the returned fines are coated with a portion of the spray in preferance to the larger particles of the bed, and the fines growth rate is encouraged and the bed particle growth rate is discouraged. As shown, the fines are injected into the bed by means of compressed air from nozzle 32; but this arrangement may be replaced by an auger. The required product is discharged from the bed 18 through pipe 28 onto conveyor 29. The evaporation of sodium sulphate solution is referred to.
