Abstract
1394616 Shoots GENERAL SIGNAL CORP 2 Oct 1972 [3 April 1972] 38848/74 Divided out of 1394615 Heading B8S A shoot for distributing particulate material from a conduit 14 comprises a receiving surface 34, an inclined spreader surface 36 having diverging edges 40, 42, and a guide surface 38. As shown the spreader surface is a segment of a frusto-cone (C, Fig. 2, not shown); and the angle of divergence of its edges is preferably equal to, or slightly less than, the angle of repose of the material to be distributed. In operation a conical pile first forms on the surface 34 and additional material slides down its sides and is uniformly distributed over the spreader surface 36 and deposited in a configuration corresponding to the profile of guide surface 38. A vibrator may be attached to the shoot.
